The village of Uzuncaburc (ancient Olba Diocaeseria) is situated about
3,000
feet above
sea level in the Taurus Mountains. The Hellenistic tower gave the
village
its name,
Uzuncaburc meaning “high tower”. At the beginning of 2nd century B.C.,
the
priests of the
temple of Zeus at Olba became the rulers of this area.
